Democracy Day: Philanthropist Extols Gov. Ugwuanyi

As Nigeria prepares to celebrate 2019 democracy day, a philanthropist, Engr. Paul Dinwoke has lamented poor representation at all levels of government more especially in Enugu state.

Engr. Dinwoke gave this expression at Igbo-Etiti local government Ogbede during his formal declaration for the post of House of Representatives for Igbo-Etiti/Uzo-Uwani Federal Constituency over the weekend.

In his words, “I stand to tell you that we the people of Igbo-Etiti/Uzo-Uwani Federal constituency have not have effective and productive representation. What we have been having sleeping representation since 1999. Our representatives have not been doing what they are supposed to do in terms our constituency projects. How many of our communities have a functional borehole courtesy of Representatives? How many of our youths were empowered through constituency projects? The only empowerment they know is to buy motorbikes to our youths to go and die on the road in the name okada riders.”

Explaining further, the Havard trained telecom expert said that, “it is because of this that I now offer myself to service to represent you in the federal House of Representatives, come 2019. I don’t have any money to give you but I have my service and good representation to give you. If elected, I will be hosting constituency town hall meeting every two months to know your problems and know how they van be solved.”

However, in a chat with….., the Aku-born business mogul explained that since the constituency is known for Agriculture, he will harness the agricultural potentials of the people of the constituency if elected come 2019.

“You know as much as I do that our area is known for agriculture. I will do everything within my reach to harness the agricultural potentials of my people. I will revamp Adani rice production which has been in comatose. Agricultural inputs like fertilizer, seedlings and other incentives will also given to our people.”

On the youth empowerment, Engr. Dinwoke said he will train a good number of youths from each ward in the constituency for skills acquisition like tailoring, agriculture, welding and other entrepreneurial skills.

In her own speech, the Chairman Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Igbo-Etiti local government, Barr. Mrs Nkechi Ugwuoju expressed her delight over expression of interest by a youth like Engr. Dinwoke to contest for the seat.

She promised that the party will give him all the necessary support needed for his victory in the polls.
